MOST COMMON TREATMENTS

  • A chiropractic adjustment helps to restore and maintain the proper function of our nervous system. The nervous system consists of our brain and spinal cord, and from the spinal cord exits peripheral nerves. To maintain a healthy nervous system, it is imperative to make sure there is as little interference with the signals our nerves send. The joints in our spine and even extremities can become misaligned and lose their ability to move properly, thus causing irritation to nerves. This is where the adjustment is necessary.

Simply put, the purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is to put motion back into a joint that has lost range of motion (function). Although some might associate an adjustment with a “crack” or “pop”, this is only a by-product. There are many different adjusting techniques available depending on the needs of the patient. The following are techniques used by the doctors at Dodge City Chiropractic: Reinert Specific Diversified, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Thompson Drop Technique, Activator, Webster (Pre-natal) Technique and Logan Basic Technique.

    JOINT MOTION = JOINT HEALTH

  • The purpose of clinical soft tissue work is to break up adhesions within muscle to restore proper tone. Adhesions are a chemical build up produced from muscle contractions, typically from repetitive motions. These adhesions can make muscles hypoxic or lacking oxygen, causing the muscle(s) to be in a perpetual state of partial contraction. Simply stated, you cannot contract a muscle that is already contracted. Many patients think they have a “weak core,” “bad knees,” or their balance is poor due to age, when in reality they just lack the ability to use the muscles they are trying to use because they are already in a state of contraction. The hands-on soft tissue work the doctors at Dodge City Chiropractic use will help improve the function of the specific muscles causing dysfunction.

  • This therapy can be used for a few different reasons. One reason to use kinesiotape on an area is to improve lymphatic flow. This helps to decrease swelling and reduces healing time of a bruise. Another reason would be to support the musculature and/or joints, especially if the area is going to be used while still injured. The kinesiotape acts as a proprioceptive queue to help the muscles engage easier. Think of it as an “assist” to the muscles.

  • According to the Aspen Laser website (https://www.aspenlaser.com),

“All light is composed of photons: small packers of light energy in the form of waves with a defined frequency and wavelength. However, not all light is the same. Different wavelengths of light represent different colors on the light spectrum.

When light is projected as a single, coherent wavelength where the waves travel parallel to each other, it’s considered laser light. Laser light is much more intense than regular white light and has a multitude of applications from scanning barcodes to treating pain, inflammation, and more within human (and animal) bodies.

Laser therapy is when laser light is tuned to specific wavelengths and frequencies and applied to an organism in order to stimulate metabolic processes at the cellular level.

Laser light holds its intensity until it is absorbed by a medium; in the case of laser therapy, the medium is the body. The photon energy of laser light can effectively penetrate the skin and underlying structures, which accelerates the body’s natural healing process. Laser therapy utilizes the wavelengths and frequencies of visible red and near infrared (NIR) light to treat a variety of conditions at their source within the body through safe, non-invasive, and painless procedures.”

    Biological Effects of Laser Therapy:

    Reduced fibrous tissue formation

    Improved nerve function

    Immunoregulation

  • Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that treats a wide-variety of conditions by stimulating points on the skin with needles.
